You do not need to have meditated before. These are practical skills, and this is what people use them for.
A way to come back down after a tense meeting or a hard conversation, instead of carrying it through the rest of the day.
Train your attention to stay where you put it, so you are pulled around less by distraction and worry.
A little more room between what happens and what you do next, especially under pressure.
Something to do with a busy mind when you are trying to settle for sleep.
Eyes open, in as little as a minute. In a queue, between meetings, in the car park before you walk inside.
Notice and take in the pleasant moments that usually slip past while your mind is somewhere else.
These are skills that build with practice, and results vary from person to person. This course is not therapy or medical treatment.
"I haven't snapped at the kids nearly as much, and I seem to think with more clarity. I liked the scientific approach, and that it's a normal person teaching it."
"I manage a large team in an always-on environment. I've found a sense of calm to handle it, along with sharper creative thinking and better decisions on the fly."
"Now twenty minutes after work feels like hitting reset. I'm in a far better mindset by the time I walk in the door."
"The scientific backing was highly important to me, and it's explained in a very user-friendly way. I'm calmer, more responsive, less reactive."

I have taught Vedic meditation and breathwork for many years. I also offer mentoring online, alongside some breathwork sessions.
Unified Mindfulness is a practical system you can learn online and use anywhere - in the middle of a busy day, when you only have five minutes, or when you are trying to settle for sleep. I use it myself every day alongside my own practice.
You could learn this system from a recording, or from a teacher overseas. What I add is my own study and research in psychology, breathwork and the nervous system, which I use to shape the course into something more rounded and more practical for everyday life. You learn it live, in Australian time, from a teacher who gets to know you and can answer your questions as they come up.
I teach it two ways: as an eight-week course with a small online group, or privately, one to one.
Trained step by step, with guidance and time to practise.
The ability to place your attention where you choose and keep it there.
Noticing what is actually happening in your body and mind, in more detail.
Letting sensations and emotions come and go without fighting them.
Developed by teacher Shinzen Young, Unified Mindfulness has led to research collaborations with Harvard Medical School, Carnegie Mellon University and the University of Vermont. These collaborations do not imply endorsement of this course. Rich teaches the system alongside his own study and research, shaping each course for everyday life.
Start with the foundations, then explore how to use the skills in everyday life. Each week builds on the last.
Eight weekly sessions of 60 minutes. Dates for the January 2027 group course are coming soon.
An introduction to the "See, Hear, Feel" technique. We talk about what you're hoping to get from this training, and how to use See, Hear, Feel in your life.
The "Feel Rest" technique, and how to use it to manage stress. Relaxation is always available, but it can be subtle and hard to detect. Learn to detect it, pay skilful attention to it, and experience it more often and more deeply.
How to use "See, Hear, Feel" and "Feel Rest" in daily life. There are three types of life practice: Micro Hits, Background Practice and Formal Practice. Discover how and when to use each, and apply your practice to any situation.
The "Feel Flow" technique, and how you can access it for increased wellbeing. You'll also get an introduction to ULTRA, Shinzen's Universal Library for Training Attention, which includes every significant approach to contemplative practice.
Discover and develop the hidden spontaneity in ordinary experience through the "Auto Move" or "Auto Walk" technique, which emphasises the effortlessness of experience.
The "Feel Good" technique, which helps to cultivate pleasant feelings like joy and rebalance our negativity bias. You'll also learn to practise with music while developing mindfulness skills.
Applying mindfulness when it counts. You'll gain skill in deciding which technique to use when facing a challenge, and how to make the most of situations, inner or outer.
The wrap up. We cover the rhythms for practising mindfulness, so the journey you've begun stays lifelong and keeps changing your life, day by day.
Try out the practices in your own day. You can return to the session recordings to revisit an explanation or catch up on a missed week.
The same eight weeks, with a small group or one to one. Both include ongoing access to the materials and recordings.
Come to your first session, group or private. If it is not for you, tell me before the second session and I will refund you in full: $650 for the group course, $1,500 for the private course.
Probably, yes. Much of this practice is done with your eyes open, in short bursts, while you get on with your day. You are not asked to empty your mind or sit still for long periods. You are given a clear thing to pay attention to and shown how.
No. We start from the foundations in week one, and each week builds on the last.
As little as a minute at a time. The practices are designed to fit into the gaps you already have, and you choose how much more to do.
Every group session is recorded, so you can catch up before the next one. You keep access to the materials and recordings afterwards.
It is taught live. You can ask questions, get guidance on what you are actually experiencing, and learn alongside other people. Rich also shapes the course with his own study and research, so it is not a generic program read from a script.
No. It is taught as a set of practical attention skills, in plain language. You do not need to believe anything to do it.
The group course suits most people and you learn a lot from other people's questions. Choose private if you want to go deeper into your own challenges, need sessions that fit around your calendar, or would rather start now than wait for the next group.
Both courses have the same one. Come to your first session. If you decide it is not for you, tell Rich before the second session and he will refund you in full: $650 for the group course, $1,500 for the private course.
No. This is skills training, not therapy or medical treatment. If you are dealing with anxiety, depression or trauma, please work with a qualified mental health professional, and talk to Rich before you enrol.
Rich has taught Vedic meditation to over 500 people and guided thousands more in group meditation and breath training. His work also includes online mentoring and breathwork sessions. He holds Honours in Psychological Science and runs The Art of Calm on the Gold Coast, including sessions at Eden Health Retreat.
He brings his own study and research to this course, so what you learn is the Unified Mindfulness system as taught by someone who has tested it against his own practice and his clients' everyday lives.
Register for the January 2027 group course and I will email you the dates as soon as they are set, with how to hold your place with a deposit. Or reach out about learning privately.
